In my local park in East London, a mile away from what would become the 2012 Olympic stadium, I played from sun up to sun set. It was in those fun filled days, that the seeds of my craft were planted which would eventually turn into the unrelenting pursuit of perfecting the art of running one lap of the track quicker than anyone else.
I retired from Athletics as a 4-time Olympian with an Olympic Gold, Silver, and 2 Bronze medals; I was World Champion twice and secured a medal at every World Championship I participated in, a statistic met by only 3 athletes in the world ever. With Commonwealth gold and bronze medals, and a host of Indoor medals I had become one of the most decorated female athletes in Britain.
Sport gave me my voice and brought out my best self. The curiosity that drove my athletic career remains, pushing me to take chances even in retirement.
Post-athletics, I first pursued legal development. A chance meeting with a QC led me to earn a Law degree and work as a paralegal at Squire Patton Boggs, an experience I valued for my professional growth.
My elite sports background provided unique skills that I now use in my performance consultancy business, coaching clients from individual athletes to corporate environments.
Giving back matters deeply to me. I helped establish the Lloyd Cowan Bursary honouring my late coach, supporting others as he would have wanted.
As an athlete, I rarely had all the answers but always maximised what I had, learned from experiences, and persevered through adversity. This spirit of curiosity continues driving me toward new opportunities. Still, we move.
